The State of Canada’s Birds report provides broad insight into how Canada’s birds are doing in a manner that is approachable and accessible for people of all ages and backgrounds. It uses the information from the species accounts to produce a variety of summary statistics and indicators, which are accompanied by engaging explanations and graphics.

The report summarizes the trends and status of Canada’s birds as a whole, then explores ten groups of birds that tell important conservation stories. These groups are meant to celebrate successes, highlight critical conservation issues, and motivate action. The trend graphs that accompany these groups are downloadable, and can be used with appropriate citation.

The composite group indicators in the report are useful in highlighting and supporting conservation and research priorities, and the report — as a whole or in parts — is a valuable tool for public and stakeholder engagement. The report is necessarily a snapshot in time, but new versions will be released to help monitor progress and update priorities based on the most current information.
