In the Prairie Edition we focus on wetland birds and vocalizing amphibians of Prairie Canada, spanning southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Although we cover 61 species, it is by no means an exhaustive list of every species that you may see at a wetland. Most species are commonly encountered, but we also include some rarer species to keep an eye or ear out for. We’re sure they’ll get you well on your way to gaining confidence and taking your birding up a level!

Through live webinars and self-guided activities, we slowly build your identification skills without getting overwhelmed. LeeAnn also leads guided marsh walks in select locations, so you can get out and bird with an expert and learn first-hand that not every bird you lay eyes on can be identified to species! The ultimate goal of the program is to give you the skills to confidently submit checklists of birds and vocalizing amphibians at wetlands anywhere you choose.

Webinars take place every Wednesday evening, usually starting the first week in March and run for 10 weeks, until the first week of May. We encourage you to visit wetlands as they thaw out and birds arrive – there really is no better way to learn than to be out with the birds.
