Welcome to the Ontario Piping Plover Volunteer Training course! We’re so glad you’re here!

This course was created to help you feel confident, informed, and excited about your role as a Piping Plover Nest Monitoring Volunteer.

The course will take you through eight short lessons covering topics like program history, the volunteer role, Piping Plover biology and completing your monitoring shifts. The course includes videos, helpful resources, and a short quiz at the end. The quiz isn’t graded, it’s just a fun way to test your knowledge, and you can take it as many times as you’d like.

The whole training should take about 30-45 minutes to complete. Once you’re done, we hope you’ll feel ready to jump into your first (or hundredth!) shift on the beach!

Please note: This training has been developed for people who are already signed up as Ontario Piping Plover Volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please visit email ontarioplovers@birdscanada.org for more information and to sign up.
