Welcome to Birding for Beginners! In this course, you’ll learn everything you need to know to start birding wherever you are in Canada.
- Selecting and using binoculars, guidebooks, and other tools to identify birds
- An introduction to the five core ways to identify birds; shape, size, context, colour, and sound
- Finding suitable habitats to go birding, and how to spot birds around you
This course is designed for beginners and will feature bird species and references that are catered to people living in Canada, although the skills can be applied anywhere in the world.
Your skills will be tested at the end of the course with a quiz, which you can take as many times as needed. You’ll receive a certificate of achievement when you’ve passed.
The course will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, but there is no time limit. Feel free to work through the materials on a schedule that works for you!
