NatureCThe NatureCounts logoounts is an open data platform by Birds Canada that collects and interprets biodiversity data, then makes those data available and accessible for the conservation of birds and their habitats. The data hosted by NatureCounts comes from citizen science and research projects, many of which collect data using the NatureCounts app.

This resource will guide you through the basics of using the app for data collection. The ‘Getting Started’ section covers everything you need to know before opening the app. The ‘App Basics’ section introduces you to some basic concepts that apply to all projects. Finally, the ‘Protocol Basics’ section introduces you to some different survey protocols used by various projects. Since each project is different, you should follow up on your project web portal or with your project coordinator for more specific instructions.

You can use the links at the bottom of each page to work through the sections in order, or use the menu at the left to navigate to pages that are relevant to you. In either case we hope the material is helpful, and that you are able to use the NatureCounts app to make your data collection quick, streamlined, and easier than ever.
