The NatureCounts R package makes using the data for research easier than ever. You will need to take a few steps before you can download data directly in R, but with a little groundwork the process is streamlined and efficient.
You need a NatureCounts account to access data in R, so start by signing up. For more information about creating an account, visit Creating Your NatureCounts Account.
Visit the NatureCounts website to see what data are available. Exploring the datasets page or the data exploration tools will help you determine what data you need. To access your desired data in R, you will need to complete a data request just as though you were downloading data directly from the website. The process of requesting a data download is outlined in Using the Download Data Tool.
Once your download request has been approved, you will be able to access your available data anytime in R. You will receive an email indicating that your request has been approved and including a request ID. You can also find your request ID at any time in the My Downloads tab on the NatureCounts website. You will use this request ID along with your username to access your data in R.
